Beagle Bioproducts MSDS Nodularin

Nodularin is a cyclic pentapeptide hepatotoxin produced by certain species of cyanobacterial algae, most commonly Nodularia spumigena (Chen, et al., 2013). First described in 1988 there are now 10 observed variants of this toxin; Nodularin-R (pictured above) is the most common and generally referred to as Nodularin (Chen, et al., 2013; Rinehart, et al., 1988). This toxin has been observed to have direct effect on the liver in humans with an LC50 of 98.2nM (Ufelmann, et al., 2012) and has recently been implicated as a possible tumor-promoter (Zegura, et al., 2011).
